- Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking a Human Resource Specialist for its administrative headquarters in Rockford. The administrative headquarters is a small, dynamic work environment supporting retail and mission operations throughout Northern Illinois and the Wisconsin Stateline Area.
- The Human Resource Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of human resource activities for Goodwill Northern Illinois with an emphasis on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, diversity and inclusion efforts, coaching and counseling. Secondary responsibilities may include compliance, policy and procedures; safety; benefits and wellness; and oversight of processes related to administrative tasks including specialized reporting to ensure the overall effective operation of a Human Resources Department.

E-Commerce Specialist - Rockford (part-time)
- Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking an E-Commerce Specialist for its location in Rockford. The E-Commerce Specialist is responsible for all duties as assigned by the E-Commerce Manager including: maintaining inventory of goods to be sold, examining product for condition, preparing written descriptions of products, taking clear photographs, assisting customers, and preparing goods for transit.
- Duties include:
- Evaluates and researches each piece of merchandise coming in to e-commerce operation using the internet and other equipment.
- Effectively prices items using proper and competitive pricing points.
- Writes item descriptions; proofreads all item descriptions for clarity, spelling and grammar; photographs each item with a digital camera; uploads photos into computer.
- Posts descriptions and photos onto shopgoodwill.com web site and other online marketplaces.
- Maintains productivity as demonstrated by meeting minimum posting numbers on appropriate software platforms.
- Monitors web site daily for inventory count.
- Monitors balance of merchandise by category on site.
- Provides exceptional customer service through responding to all customer emails within 24 hours; help customers navigate web site as needed.
- Completes order process through pulling sold goods; properly packaging each item, completing shipping following UPS, FedEx or USPS guidelines. Ensures all daily shipments are made.
- Ensures packing supplies are always available.
- Processes payments, returns and customer refunds as needed.
- Moves inventory using pallet jack when required. Keeps inventory neatly and appropriately organized.
- Responsive and respectful towards others within the organization. Promotes internal and external customer service through effective communication. Displays appropriate behavior (courteous and respectful interactions) with fellow employees.
- Consistently follows established safety rules. Reports safety accidents and hazards when known and in a timely manner. Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Utilizes the proper equipment and supplies in meeting the safety standards. Maintains workstation supplies. Completes work station five minute clean up daily.
- Demonstrates regard for Goodwill’s assets including property, and equipment.

- The ideal candidate will have a high school degree (or its equivalent), though an equivalent amount of training and experience will be considered in lieu of this requirement; knowledge of collectibles, antiques or specialized items strongly preferred; ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with the public and customers (internal and external); ability to count, add, and subtract; ability to follow instructions and work independently; ability to follow all safety rules; ability to effectively use a camera and photograph merchandise; ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds; strong writing skills including grammar and punctuation as well as attention to detail in writing; proficient in computer use including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet use. Must be at least 18 years old.

Financial Programs Coordinator - Rockford (full-time)
- Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking a fulltime Financial Programs Coordinator. The Financial Programs Coordinator is responsible for providing financial training and services to low income community members with an emphasis on free tax preparation and other asset building techniques. The Financial Programs Coordinator must be willing to grow and demonstrate flexibility with role responsibilities as the financial programs evolve.
- Duties include:
- Responsible for recruiting and training tax site volunteers each year.
- Develop schedules for tax site operations and training in coordination with Program Manager and partners.
- Become IRS Certified to provide review and guidance for tax site program.
- Assist with tax site operation at multiple sites, including review of returns, site flow and logistics, and effective customer service.
- Ensure prompt transmittal of tax returns and timely resolution of problem returns.
- Independently trouble shoot tax and customer service concerns.
- Ensure IRS and Goodwill policy, procedures and guidelines are followed.
- Work to highlight Goodwill’s mission and values at all activities.
- Earn AFCPE financial certification and conduct one-on-one and group trainings on various financial topics.
- Provides presentations and assists with the financial literacy programs at Goodwill.

- The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and facilitate professional high-quality presentations and workshops for large groups and tailor presentations to audiences as needed; fluency with Microsoft Office suite is essential; ability to work cooperatively with both internal and external partners; ability to effectively work with individuals and diverse groups to achieve targeted outcomes. A valid drivers license and current insurance is necessary as the position requires travel to work sites. The Financial Programs Coordinator must obtain and maintain annual IRS Volunteer tax certifications through Goodwill and AFCPE Accredited Financial Counselor designation. A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline is required. Preference will be given to those with human services, accounting or personal finance experience.

Warehouse Worker - Rockford (part-time)
- Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking Warehouse Workers to work up to 28 hours per week for its warehouse at North Towne Mall. The Warehouse Worker is responsible for supporting general warehouse efforts including bailing of textiles; stacking and palletizing computer parts and components; driving a forklift; loading and unloading trucks; light cleaning (sweeping, floor maintenance, bathrooms) and general warehouse tasks. MUST be able to work Monday-Saturday and have flexible availability between 7 am and 7:30 pm. $9.00+ per hour depending on experience.
- The ideal candidate will have previous warehouse experience and should be a team player. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically active work environment.

The position includes sorting of donations into areas and categories as determined by Store Manager and Processing Supervisor. Duties are generally performed at the Store Donation Door. - Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking a fulltime Store Manager for its Algonquin location. The Store Manager is responsible for all store operations, including the supervision and development of staff; vision, merchandising, and layout of the store; the maintenance of appropriate standards of orderliness and cleanliness in the store; community involvement of Goodwill; ensuring profitability to help fund Goodwill’s mission; and ensuring the ideal customer experience through service and promotion of the store.
